Our mission is to help homeless families find the self-confidence and encouragement that they need to rebuild their lives.  With approximately 3.5 million people homeless and 1.3 million of them children (National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty 2007) our society is in a downward trend.  It is estimated that 41% of the homeless population is comprised of families, according to a study done by National Alliance to end Homelessness.  The US Conference of Mayor 2004 reported that of the 27 cities surveyed in 2004, 56%  of the homeless families had to break up in order to enter emergency shelters.  With unemployment at a high, and  our economy in the state that it is in, homelessness is on the rise.  There are more homeless and struggling families now than there were when these surveys were taken.

Homeless children are in poor health twice as often as other children and have higher rates of asthma, ear infections, stomach problems and speech problems. (Better Homes Fund)  It is estimated that almost half of the children in shelters are under the age of 5 and are twice as likely to experience hunger and 4 times as likely to have delayed development as other children. (Homes for the Homeless)

We want to take these homeless families and give them an opportunity to develop into a productive contributor to society.  We will give these children a yard to play in, a bedroom to rest in and a place to call home.  We will give counseling to the families for job placement, family development, spiritual guidance, and drug/alcohol dependency if needed.  We will help the adults obtain their GED, if they do not have a high school diploma, and get back into the workforce.  Through guidance we believe that these families can learn to be self dependent and no longer rely on the government.  We will break the cycle of dependence and impact the next generation.  The children of these families are our future.  If we don't make a difference now, then when?  Will it be too late?  Will you help to change the lives of these families and make a positive impact on their future...our future?
